India's Pramod Bhagat claimed the gold medal in the men’s singles SL3 category, while teaming up with Sukant Kadam to win silver in the men’s doubles SL3-SU5 at the Japan International. The victories add to their respective career records.
Tokyo Paralympic gold medallist Pramod Bhagat maintained his winning streak in Para Badminton by securing the gold medal in the men's singles SL3 category at the Japan International today. In the final match, Bhagat outperformed fellow Indian Umesh Kumar with a score of 21-16, 21-8 to claim the top honor.
Later, teaming up with Sukant Kadam in the men's doubles SL3-SU5 category final, they faced a tough challenge from Indonesia’s Hikmat Ramdani and Fredy Setiawan. Despite a valiant effort, Bhagat and Kadam lost the match 5-21, 15-21, settling for the silver medal.
The tournament was particularly significant for Kadam, as his performance added a silver to his career medal tally of 100 over a span of 12 years in competitive badminton.
