Indian golfer Pranavi Urs wins the first gold medal for women's golf in the Asian Games, creating history for Indian sports. Her performance also contributes to securing a team silver for India.
Pranavi Urs, a 23-year-old athlete from Mysore, made history by becoming the first Indian woman golfer to win a gold medal at the Asian Games. In the final round, she maintained her one-stroke lead despite a triple bogey on the third hole and finished with an impressive score of 15-under 265 for four days, a stroke ahead of her competitors.
Urs's victory was not only personal but also significant for the Indian team. Her performance played a crucial role in securing India a team silver alongside Aditi Ashok (67 in final round) and Diksha Dagar (77 in final round). The combined efforts of these players helped to bring home the silver medal.
Urs's achievement marks the first gold medal for women's golf since Shiv Kapur won the men's individual top honors in 2002.
