The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, commended India's impressive performance at the Asian Para Games, where the country rose from 14 to 114 medals. In his statement, he highlighted that Indian athletes won 30 Gold Medals, set five World Records and nine Asian Records, and achieved a clean sweep of the podium in four events.
Modi further pointed out two significant achievements: 36 out of 61 debutant athletes returned with medals, and 34 out of 56 female athletes won medals. The Prime Minister emphasized that these results demonstrate no dream is too big or challenge too great when there is determination.
He also addressed the shift in society's attitude towards young athletes pursuing sports. According to him, the days when society frowned upon such aspirations are over, and India will support and cheer for those with talent.
In a tweet, Modi wrote: 'On one hand this is a number…a statistic of India’s rise in the Asian Para Games. But, importantly, this meteoric rise suggests something else…the immense potential and talent of our athletes.'
