Following allegations of illegal registration, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha's name was found in the draft voter list for Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party accused a 'backdoor manner', while Chadha denied any wrongdoing.
After Bharatiya Janata Party leader Raghav Chadha claimed that his name was deleted from the draft voter list prepared during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Punjab, his name was found in the draft rolls for Delhi. The Indian Express reported this development on September 9.
On Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that Chadha had illegally registered himself as a voter in Delhi's Rajinder Nagar assembly constituency. AAP National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda claimed that Chadha’s name was added to the Delhi draft electoral roll in a ‘backdoor manner’, ANI reported on September 13.
In response, Chadha stated that he had complied with all applicable Election Commission guidelines and procedures. He described the allegations as ‘frivolous’ and accused the AAP leadership of targeting him since he left the party in April to join the BJP, according to The Indian Express on September 14.
On a related note, Chadha had earlier claimed that the Election Commission had classified him as having shifted from his registered address in Mohali. He alleged this was a ‘clear case of political vendetta’ by the AAP government in Punjab on Thursday, The Indian Express reported.
