Six allegedly undocumented Bangladeshi migrants were arrested in Mumbai, as reported by ANI on Friday. The six individuals have been accused of providing forged Aadhaar and other Indian identity documents to assist Bangladeshi citizens in entering India. Forty forged Aadhaar cards, Permanent Account Number cards, railway tickets with QR codes, and other Indian identity documents were recovered from the suspects, according to Mumbai Police, as reported by ANI. This incident follows a series of detainments of Bengali-speaking individuals – mostly Muslims – across several states since April 2025. Since then, some persons have been forced into Bangladesh after they allegedly could not prove their Indian citizenship. However, in some cases, persons who were mistakenly sent to Bangladesh returned to India when state authorities proved their Indian nationality.
