
The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to provide details of SIR-related appeals decided by tribunals in West Bengal and has set August 25 for further hearing on this matter.
In a recent development, the Supreme Court presided over by Chief Justice Surya Kant ordered the Election Commission to furnish information regarding SIR-related appeals that have been settled by tribunals in West Bengal. This directive came following a plea filed by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who expressed concern over the slow disposal of such appeals.
The Supreme Court has scheduled August 25 as the date for further hearing on this matter, aiming to expedite the resolution process for SIR-related voter deletion appeals in West Bengal.
