The account of the organization hosting an event for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was temporarily blocked due to alleged manipulation by opponents and later restored.
On Thursday, the American Hindus for Engagement and Dialogue Forum announced that its X account had been temporarily blocked. The organization attributed the blockage to 'misguided opponents' who allegedly attempted to manipulate the platform's algorithm. The forum expressed gratitude to the unspecified social media platform's support team for restoring their account and clearing out the bots. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is facing opposition from various groups in the US over Bhagwat's visit.
The event in question is part of RSS’ centenary-year global outreach programme, where Bhagwat will address around 5,000 Hindu Americans and Hindu non-resident Indians at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The US Commission on International Religious Freedom has urged the Donald Trump administration to revoke the visa issued to Bhagwat, citing concerns about his visit and allegations of violent attacks against religious minorities by groups associated with the RSS in recent years. Other organizations critical of the visit include Hindus for Human Rights, Save America from Hindutva, Indian American Muslim Council, and Dalit Solidarity Forum.
