Several traders' associations in New Delhi have written a joint letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging for a ban on protests in commercial areas during the ongoing festive season due to heavy financial losses.
A collective plea from various traders' associations across New Delhi has been addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The letter underscores the impact of protests on the 10th of the current month, which led to a disrupted and anxious environment in major markets for four to five days prior to and post the event.
In their request to the Prime Minister, Central Government, and Judiciary, these business bodies propose an immediate ban on all protests and marches within Delhi's commercial hubs to ensure the protection of the public and local economy. They also demand a thorough assessment of financial damages caused by the protests, with direct recovery from the organizers.
President of the Federation of Lajpat Nagar Traders’ Association, Kuldeep Arora, spoke to media about the current situation, stating that the entire population of Delhi is facing inconvenience due to the ongoing protests in Delhi. He emphasized that this situation has resulted in customers avoiding markets, thereby affecting businesses directly.
