The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India introduces the Network Anubhav Platform, a geospatial tool that consolidates user test data from MySpeed and MyCall apps, as well as TRAI's independent drive test data.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today launched the Network Anubhav Platform, a comprehensive geospatial and analytical tool aimed at delivering insights on network parameters to consumers, service providers, and TRAI. The platform incorporates user test data from MySpeed and MyCall apps, as well as TRAI's independent drive test data.
Key features of the Geo-Spatial Maps include the ability for users to view test results categorized by cellular or fixed broadband, segregated by service provider and technology, based on download and upload speeds. The maps can be navigated, zoomed, and filtered for location analysis, with supporting tables and downloadable reports available to interpret the displayed results.
The platform calculates percentile values based on user tests: Half of the tests recorded a speed at or above the value, P80 (for Mobile Broadband) represents 80% of the tests recording a speed at or above the value, and P90 (for Fixed Broadband) indicates 90% of the tests recording a speed at or above the value. These values, though not comprehensive assessments of network quality based on standard methodology, provide valuable information about other users' experiences in various locations.
The Network Anubhav dashboard empowers consumers to report spam and test internet speeds, access aggregated results from TRAI apps, web interface, and independent drive tests, and view location-specific results of tests conducted by other users. The maps also facilitate a geospatial appreciation of independent drive tests for various locations.
Telecom service providers can use the platform to view data of call quality, coverage, and internet tests conducted by consumers, along with location, date, time, and values of technical parameters. This information allows TSPs to identify geographic locations for further analysis and use it for network improvement.
