Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressing the 'Sahakar Nav-Kranti' programme in Mumbai

Amit Shah calls for stronger forensic support to ensure banking safety, inaugurates Security Operations Centre, and launches a series of initiatives aimed at modernizing India's urban cooperative banking sector.

In his address at the 'Sahakar Nav-Kranti' programme in Mumbai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the escalating issue of digital transaction frauds and advocated for robust forensic support to bolster banking security. He underscored the significance of collaborative efforts with the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in combating cyber and financial crimes.

During the event, Mr Shah inaugurated a Security Operations Centre (SOC), a platform designed to offer 24/7 cyber surveillance and security assistance to urban cooperative banks. The SOC launch is part of an extensive initiative aimed at reinforcing cybersecurity within India's urban cooperative banking sector.

In addition, the Minister inaugurated the new office building of the National Urban Co-operative Finance and Development Corporation (NUCFDC) situated in Mumbai’s Fort area. The NUCFDC is an umbrella organization for cooperative banks across the country.

Emphasizing the importance of the NUCFDC, Mr Shah encouraged all cooperative banks to join the organization. He expressed optimism that this step would modernize and make services more transparent and trustworthy within the urban banking sector.

Furthermore, Mr Shah highlighted the role of urban cooperative banks in fostering a parallel system of self-employment for nationwide prosperity. He asserted that cooperative banks should not merely focus on profit generation but rather on fulfilling people's aspirations.

The Home Minister also presided over a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the NUCFDC and the National Forensic Sciences University. Additionally, Mr Shah launched the ‘Bank In A Box’ initiative along with several related services. The programme concluded with the launch of a coffee table book and felicitations for representatives of six cooperative banks.
