
Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met Mirabai Chanu to discuss high-performance sports and nurturing more champions from the Northeast.
Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, held a meeting with Commonwealth Games gold medallist Mirabai Chanu in New Delhi. During the discussion, Mr Scindia lauded Mirabai's determination and perseverance, which resulted in her winning a record-extending third consecutive gold medal at the Glasgow Games.
The Minister and Mirabai discussed various aspects of high-performance sports, including training, nutrition, recovery, and athlete support. They also emphasized the need for nurturing more champions from the Northeast region.
Mr Scindia highlighted the Centre's efforts to strengthen the sporting ecosystem in the Northeast through initiatives like the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region’s High-Level Task Force and the One State, One Sport initiative. The primary focus is on creating world-class coaching, scientific training, and sports infrastructure in the region.
