Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, held various meetings during his two-day official visit to Germany from October 21-23, 2026. The engagements centered on strengthening India–Germany cooperation in trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, research, and emerging technologies.

During the course of his visit, Shri Piyush Goyal held a bilateral meeting with Economic and Financial Policy Advisor and G7/G20 Sherpa at the German Federal Chancellery, Mr. Levin Holle. The discussions focused on bilateral economic cooperation and opportunities to further strengthen economic and investment ties between India and Germany.

In addition to this, Shri Goyal met with CEOs of Siemens Healthineers AG, Bertelsmann, Volkswagen AG, and Škoda Auto. These meetings aimed to explore possibilities for expanding business partnerships, investment, and industrial cooperation between the two countries.

Shri Goyal also participated in a roundtable with leaders of prominent German industrial research institutions to discuss cooperation in advanced industrial technologies and innovation. Separately, members of the accompanying Indian business delegation partook in sectoral roundtables with German industry representatives and sectoral associations to explore opportunities for bilateral business collaboration.

The Minister also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Berlin and addressed the media. As part of his engagements with the research and innovation ecosystem, Shri Goyal interacted with Indian science and technology researchers and students based in Germany.

He held a roundtable with heads of selected Fraunhofer Institutes, covering areas such as microelectronics, power electronics, logistics, smart manufacturing, industrial innovation, and battery technologies. The discussions explored avenues for strengthening research collaboration and industry–academia partnerships between India and Germany.

The engagements underscored the growing scope of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, particularly in trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, science and technology, research, and industrial cooperation.
