At the 6th International Climate Summit 2026, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the crucial connection between energy security, self-reliance, affordability, and clean energy in India's pursuit of technological advancement and global competitiveness.

In his speech at the 6th International Climate Summit 2026 organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the critical role of energy security for national security, strategic autonomy, and economic resilience. He stated that in the context of geopolitical uncertainties, disrupted supply chains, and volatile energy markets, India must become increasingly self-reliant, indigenous, affordable, and technology-advanced within the energy sector. Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the connection between technological advancement and self-reliance, pointing out that affordability is crucial for ensuring emerging technologies reach their full potential. He stressed this point particularly in reference to the advent of an AI-driven data-center era.

The Minister described the current period as a time of transition towards a secure and sustainable energy future, including a shift towards clean energy. He noted that, given India's aim to assume a greater global role, it is necessary for the country to keep pace with global trends and technological developments in the energy sector.

Highlighting nuclear energy, small modular reactors, green hydrogen, biofuels, ethanol, sustainable fuels, and the circular economy as important areas of focus, Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that an integrated approach and enlarged resource pool would be necessary to meet India's ambitious energy targets.

Dr. Jitendra Singh also emphasized the active contributions of scientific institutions, teaching institutions, universities, and startups to India's emerging technology ecosystem. He highlighted the rapid expansion of India's start-up ecosystem, with nearly 2.4 lakh startups, placing India third in the world.

The Minister called for greater participation from the private sector in India's technology and innovation journey, citing initiatives like the ₹1 lakh crore RDI Fund to incentivize private participation. He also pointed out that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation envisions around 50–60% of resources coming from non-government sources, underscoring the importance of such participation for India's global competitiveness.
