The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take strict action against hospitals that fail to comply with the Ayushman scheme’s rules and prescribed standards. For this purpose, the State Health Agency has constituted a four-member team, led by SACHIS CEO Archana Verma. The team has started conducting surprise inspections of hospitals empaneled under the scheme, State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS).
According to Ms. Verma, the inspections are being conducted on the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath. The team has examined available infrastructure, human resources, staff behavior, cleanliness arrangements, proper management and disposal of biomedical waste, and obtained information about the facilities provided to patients at the hospitals during the inspections.
Ms. Verma stated that all hospitals associated with the Ayushman Bharat scheme must comply with the scheme’s rules. Hospitals found failing to comply with the prescribed standards during inspection will face action as per the rules. All hospitals have been directed to pay special attention to cleanliness, behavior towards patients, staff availability, biomedical waste disposal, arrangements in OTs and ICUs, and providing patients with information about the Ayushman scheme.
