The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on a Pakistani businessman, his companies, and other entities for their role in procuring weapons and military components for Iran's Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics.
According to a report by The Media Line, the United States has taken action against ten individuals and entities across several countries, including a Pakistani businessman, for their alleged involvement in procuring weapons and military components for Iran’s Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL).
The sanctioned Pakistani businessman serves as chairman of the Pakistan-based Cavalier Group, a private defense company with operations in Pakistan and other countries. US authorities claim that this individual and his company acted as intermediaries for Iran’s defense ministry and facilitated the procurement and distribution of weapons.
In addition to the Pakistani businessman and his companies, Saudi Arabia-based Cavalier Dynamics for Technologies was also targeted in coordination with Saudi authorities. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the country will continue to target individuals and entities that provide support to Iran under Operation Economic Outcast, a campaign launched in August aimed at disrupting the Iranian regime’s economic networks.
