The Uttar Pradesh government has released INR 403 crores for the development of 4,030 statue sites dedicated to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and other notable figures.
On September 22, 2026, the Directorate allocated INR 403 crore to District Magistrates for the development of these sites. In the first phase of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Statue Site Development scheme, each of the state's 403 Assembly Constituencies will have 10 statue sites developed, amounting to a total of 4,030 sites. The initiative aims to ensure a safe, protected, and dignified environment for statues installed in public places.
Under this scheme, various works such as installing railing-equipped steel staircases, constructing roofs over statues, building boundary walls, finishing work, greenery, and lighting arrangements will be undertaken. An information board measuring 3×2.5 feet with the statue's name and brief history will also be installed at each site, subject to approval by the District Magistrate.
The government has set a timeline for the speedy implementation of the scheme, with separate deadlines for receiving proposals and applications, site inspections, preparing estimates, and completing tender-related procedures. The project is scheduled for completion by December 31, 2026.
