The Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, launched the India Valve Registry during India Valves 2026 conference in Chennai, emphasizing its importance for generating India-specific clinical evidence and improving patient care.

On September 5, 2026, the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, launched the India Valve Registry at India Valves 2026, a national academic meeting dedicated to advancing the treatment of valvular and structural heart diseases in Chennai.

The registry is a collaborative multicentre initiative aimed at systematically collecting real-world data on transcatheter valve interventions across India to strengthen India-specific clinical evidence and improve patient care. During his address, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of generating India-specific clinical evidence to strengthen cardiac research, improve medical decision-making, and enhance patient care.

He highlighted that behind every medical procedure is ultimately a human being, a patient who wishes to live longer, healthier, and with dignity. He underlined the remarkable advances made in cardiovascular medicine, stating that while valvular and structural heart diseases remain an important and growing challenge, advances in medical science have transformed the way these conditions are treated.

The Vice President described the launch of the India Valve Registry as an important step towards making healthcare inclusive and accessible to all. He stressed that healthcare is a human right and should be accessible to everyone.

He further stated that a valve registry, by systematically recording information on patients undergoing heart valve interventions, their treatment, and outcomes over time, can transform individual clinical experiences into collective medical knowledge. Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan welcomed efforts to establish such a collaborative initiative in India.

The Vice President highlighted India’s growing stature as a centre of medical expertise and innovation, referring to the country's achievements during the COVID-19 pandemic, including developing vaccines for its own people and supplying vaccines to around 100 countries.

Referring to the national goal of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan said that a developed India must also be a Swasth Bharat (Healthy India).
