Over 1,000 women and girl students in Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur district created a giant human rangoli depicting Mukhi, the first Indian-born cheetah, as part of Project Cheetah's fourth anniversary.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav lauded the creation of a giant human rangoli by more than 1,000 women and girl students in Sheopur to mark the completion of four years of Project Cheetah. This unique initiative took place at the Sports Complex on Friday as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, symbolising the state's commitment to wildlife conservation and public participation.
The event was organized under the Creative Sheopur initiative and saw participants wearing outfits featuring cheetah-inspired facial patterns. The Women and Child Development Department, the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), and girl students from the Kanya Adivasi Complex took part in the formation of the giant rangoli.
The collective participation during Sharadiya Navratri added special significance to the event, conveying a message of women’s empowerment, unity, and wildlife conservation. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav called upon everyone to pledge to protect nature and wildlife.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched Project Cheetah at Kuno National Park in Sheopur district on September 17, 2022. The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is being observed across the state from September 17 to October 17.
Mukhi, the female cheetah born on March 29, 2023, at Kuno National Park, is the offspring of Jwala, a female cheetah brought from Namibia. Mukhi holds a historic distinction as the first cheetah born on Indian soil after a gap of 70 years, making her a symbol of the first generation of cheetahs born in India under the reintroduction programme.
In November 2025, Mukhi gave birth to five cubs, marking a major milestone for Project Cheetah in India. She has now completed three years of age.
