The Islamic Republic of Iran has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until the United States fulfills seven conditions outlined in a June interim agreement. This stance was conveyed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, who emphasized the clarity and firmness of Tehran’s position on the matter. These conditions are based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Additionally, Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia announced plans to extend the range of their missiles following recent conflicts with the US, citing a need for longer-range weapons. Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei shared that Tehran has communicated its broad positions on the US response through mediators, with some additional points yet to be conveyed. According to Baghaei, Iran is currently focusing on the Strait of Hormuz, and restoring security in this strategically important waterway will require clear and concrete steps from the United States.
