Launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in May 2023, the Sanchar Saathi portal has garnered over 30 crore visits from citizens. Developed to help protect users from telecom-related frauds, the platform provides various tools to report suspicious calls or messages, check mobile connections associated with a user's identity, block lost or stolen handsets, and verify a handset’s authenticity before purchase. The portal offers several services such as Chakshu, which enables users to report suspected fraud communications, know mobile connections in their name, and block lost or stolen handsets. Other services include verifying the genuineness of a mobile handset, reporting incoming international calls with Indian numbers, accessing awareness material on prevailing fraud trends, and verifying trusted contact details of banks and financial institutions.
