Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav promotes agricultural development focusing on six key resolutions during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav held across Madhya Pradesh as part of the 'Krishak Kalyan Varsh', emphasised six key resolutions to enhance farmers' income and promote modern farming practices.
The CM urged the adoption of natural and organic farming methods, water conservation for every farm under the 'Har Khet Ko Pani' initiative, expansion of farm mechanisation and modern agricultural technologies, promotion of crop diversification and value addition, strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and agricultural entrepreneurship, and ensuring 100 per cent coverage of farmers under government welfare schemes.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav interacted online with farmers during the Balram Krishi Mahotsav in Jhabua on Sunday. He noted the forecast of below-normal rainfall this year and urged preparedness in extending assistance to farmers. The CM announced agricultural loans at zero per cent interest, electricity connections for ₹5, and subsidies for dairy development projects.
In Jhabua, natural farming is being practised on nearly 3,125 acres, with certification ongoing. Kadaknath poultry farming has seen over 1,000 new beneficiaries in 2025. The CM emphasised the importance of animal husbandry and the promotion of dairy farming, goat rearing, and poultry farming.
The CM also highlighted the development of fish farms across more than 760 ponds in the district, covering nearly 3,000 hectares. Cotton cultivation is being promoted as a major cash crop, with over 23,230 hectares sown so far during Kharif 2026, an increase of nearly 16 per cent compared to last year.
Tomatoes are a significant crop in Jhabua, with 2,812 hectares currently cultivated and nearly 1.68 lakh metric tonnes produced annually. A dedicated cluster produces tomato sauce and ketchup, while solar dryer units have been installed for dehydration. Tomatoes are being supplied to several states.
The Narmada–Jhabua–Petlawad–Thandla Micro Lift Irrigation Project aims to irrigate nearly 32,000 hectares and benefit around 50,000 farmers. The project will improve water conservation, increase agricultural productivity, and enable higher crop yields with lower water consumption.
The Balram Krishi Mahotsav provides information on modern agricultural technologies, high-quality seeds, advanced farm machinery, natural farming, crop diversification, water conservation, and various government schemes.
