Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressing the review meeting on Guru Purnima celebrations

Guru Purnima celebrations in Madhya Pradesh are expanded to 'Maharshi Sandipani Shraddha Parva' to promote India's ancient knowledge tradition and Guru-Shishya tradition. The Chief Minister emphasizes the importance of public participation.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, in a review meeting on the preparations for the upcoming Guru Purnima celebrations at Committee Room No. 1 of the Madhya Pradesh Vidhansabha, emphasized the need to promote India's ancient knowledge tradition and the Guru-Shishya tradition in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Yadav announced that Guru Purnima would be celebrated across the State as 'Maharshi Sandipani Shraddha Parva'.

During the meeting, Yadav noted that the State is currently observing Guru Purnima Fortnight and directed that all remaining Sandipani Schools be inaugurated before Guru Purnima. He highlighted the role of Maharshi Sandipani, the revered guru of Yogeshwar Lord Shri Krishna, who imparted education to students from all sections of society irrespective of their economic background and inspired the spirit of patriotism.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to publish a 10–20-page booklet highlighting the life, ideals, and contributions of Maharshi Sandipani, with special emphasis on his role in strengthening the Gurukul education system, and ensure its distribution to all schools. He further instructed that Guru Pujan programmes be organized in all government and private schools as well as Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), inviting local public representatives to participate.

In addition to government schools and colleges, Yadav directed private schools, colleges, and universities to actively participate in the celebrations. He envisioned Guru Purnima evolving into a cultural and educational mass movement, with the message of the Guru-Shishya tradition reaching every section of society and being effectively passed on to future generations.

Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration, Culture and Tourism, Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla informed that on Guru Purnima (29 July), educational institutions across the State would organize programmes beginning with floral tributes to the idol or portrait of Goddess Saraswati, followed by Saraswati Vandana, felicitation of teachers, lectures, student-teacher interactions, cultural performances, and various competitions. Detailed guidelines have been issued for organizing these activities.
