Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav proposing Ayush services for Armed Forces

Union Minister Shri Prataprao Jadhav proposes the establishment of Ayush OPDs and treatment services across all Military and Field Hospitals, with a focus on preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, rehabilitation, and overall well-being.

In a recent letter to Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has put forth a proposal to establish Ayush OPDs and provide Ayush-based treatment services in Military and Field Hospitals. The Minister emphasized the crucial role played by the Armed Forces Medical Services in providing healthcare to soldiers serving in diverse operational environments.

In his communication, Shri Jadhav noted that although modern medical infrastructure is robust within the Armed Forces, integrating India's traditional systems of medicine can further strengthen preventive, promotive, and holistic healthcare for defence personnel. He pointed out that while Ayush treatment facilities are currently available in a limited number of institutions under the Ministry of Defence, many Military and Field Hospitals lack dedicated Ayush services.

Shri Jadhav suggested expanding Ayush facilities to provide soldiers with greater access to evidence-based traditional healthcare, particularly focusing on preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, rehabilitation, and overall well-being. He stressed that the inclusion of Ayush services would complement the existing healthcare framework and contribute to a more comprehensive and patient-centric model of care for Armed Forces personnel.

In addition, Shri Jadhav conveyed the Ministry of Ayush's readiness to extend all necessary technical support, professional guidance, and institutional cooperation, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to facilitate the implementation of this initiative. The proposed collaboration is intended to further promote the integration of India's rich traditional medical heritage with public healthcare delivery systems.
