Till October 2026, Indian companies have secured the world's largest Green Hydrogen supply commitments, totalling over 5.5 lakh MTPA. These commitments were reached through 23 offtake contracts signed since the launch of the National Green Hydrogen Mission in 2023. Out of these, more than 70% are earmarked for exports.
Indian suppliers are offering competitive prices for Green Ammonia and Green Methanol, strengthening India's leading position in European and Japanese markets. This is achieved through strategic partnerships with global companies such as IHI, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC), L&T, ITOCHU, Samsung C&T Corporation, SAR, HINT.CO GmbH, Uniper, JERA, Select Energy GmbH, and Jouno Joules.
Domestically, substantial demand has been solidified under targeted government frameworks such as the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Agreements have been signed for the production and supply of 6,70,000 MTPA of Green Ammonia to 11 Fertilizer units spread across the country, and projects have been awarded for the production and supply of 30,000 MTPA of Green Hydrogen to refineries of IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, and NRL.
These comprehensive domestic and international agreements would require aggregate capital investment exceeding ₹90,000 Crore (approximately USD 9.5 Billion).
