The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published the results of an independent drive test conducted across Haridwar and Rishikesh cities in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at assessing the quality of mobile network services provided by telecom service providers.
On August 3rd, 2026, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released findings from an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted across Haridwar and Rishikesh cities under UPW LSA during July 2026. The purpose of this test was to evaluate the real-time quality of mobile network services, both voice and data, offered by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
The tests, supervised by TRAI's Regional Office Bhopal, were conducted along a drive route of 292.3 KMs, including hotspot locations and walk tests. The performance of TSPs for key Quality of Service parameters was documented to inform consumers and encourage service providers to improve their services.
The observations in the drive test reports represent the performance of the TSPs on the specific area/route under test on the day/time of conducting the drive test.
Key parameters assessed include signal strength, call setup success rate, drop call rate, call silence rate, speech quality, download and upload throughput, latency, jitter, and packet drop rate.
