A Panamanian cargo ship carrying 24 crew members sank off the Odisha coast on August 21. The Indian Coast Guard and Navy have launched a rescue operation, with two crew members already rescued.
According to reports, the vessel in question, MV Ocean Winner, was en route to Singapore carrying 72,100 mt of iron ore fines from Odisha. The ship departed from Paradip coast at 10.42 pm on August 20 and sunk approximately 240 nautical miles off the Odisha coast the following day.
The ship's crew primarily consisted of Chinese nationals, with 20 crew members being Chinese, three Myanmarese, and one Bangladeshi.
Upon receiving news of the sinking, the Indian Coast Guard and Navy promptly initiated a rescue operation. As of the latest updates, two crew members have been successfully rescued from the waters.
