Russia's United Russia party leads in the parliamentary election according to preliminary results, securing about 57.5% of the vote.
The Central Election Commission has released preliminary results indicating that Russia's ruling United Russia party has taken a lead in the country's parliamentary election. The party secured approximately 57.5 percent of the vote, with an overall turnout of 56.66 percent. However, final results are yet to be announced and are expected by September 25.
The election took place amid ongoing conflict with Ukraine and a major overnight drone attack launched by Kyiv. Russian officials report that over 1,900 drones were involved in the attack, resulting in at least two fatalities and damage to an oil refinery.
