Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed deep grief over the tragic death of a three-year-old child who fell into an uncovered septic tank in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh on July 25, 2026. The incident occurred following an encroachment removal drive at the dharamshala premises in the Brahmpuri parking area where debris was left behind.
Dr. Yadav ordered an immediate departmental inquiry into the entire incident and directed the Collector Khandwa to suspend officials and employees found negligent in connection with the accident. He stated that those found guilty in the departmental inquiry would be dismissed from service.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the safety of the public is the State Government's highest priority and that negligence of any kind will not be tolerated. The district administration and the Municipal Council have been instructed to make all necessary arrangements to prevent sewage and waste from flowing into the ghats.
He further directed that adequate barricading, warning signboards, and deployment of police and Home Guard personnel be ensured at ghats and other hazardous locations. Chief Minister also instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of all sewer chambers, replace damaged or broken covers immediately, and complete all necessary repair works without delay.
A show-cause notice has been issued to the Encroachment Nodal Officer and Sub-Engineer, Shri Suresh Chandra Patidar. The district administration has been urged to adopt all preventive measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur, adding that it is their responsibility to prevent any repetition of such tragedies.
