Heavy rainfall in Kerala has eased but the India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for several districts. Eight deaths reported and over 5,700 people shifted to relief camps.
The intensity of rainfall in Keralam has decreased, providing some respite to residents a day after heavy downpours hit multiple districts.
However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for 12 districts and a Yellow Alert for two districts today. The state government reported no major incidents as of yet, but eight individuals have lost their lives in rain-related incidents since yesterday.
Over 5,700 people have been relocated to relief camps due to the heavy rains.
In light of the ongoing weather conditions, educational institutions in several districts, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, will be closed tomorrow. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts till tomorrow.
