Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commends the first-ever all-women tri-service circumnavigation sailing expedition, Samudra Pradakshina, which completed a 314-day voyage covering over 25,000 nautical miles across four oceans.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has flagged off Samudra Pradakshina, the first-ever tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition, via video conferencing. The nine women officers of the three Services returned to Mumbai aboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni after completing a 314-day voyage that covered over twenty five thousand nautical miles across four oceans.
Speaking on the occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted that the completion of the expedition is a testament to India’s Nari Shakti, symbolizing the nation’s resolve. He also emphasized that the expedition proves the effectiveness of the country’s Tri-Service synergy and jointness.
Mr Singh added that Samudra Pradakshina will be remembered as a campaign where women officers from the three Services united under a single flag, conveyed a global message that India's strength lies in its unity. He further said that IASV Triveni stands as a testament to country’s engineering excellence and is seen as an embodiment of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
