Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini felicitated athletes from Haryana who participated in the 23rd Commonwealth Games, presenting cash awards worth over ₹13 crores.

At a state-level felicitation ceremony held in Panchkula today, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini honored athletes from Haryana who participated in the 23rd Commonwealth Games. A total of 24 athletes received cash awards amounting to ₹13 crore 97 lakh 50 thousand.

Expressing pride in their achievements, CM Saini remarked that an athlete’s success is underpinned by the faith of their parents, the discipline instilled by their mentors, and the resolve to rise again after every defeat. He noted that India secured the fourth position on the medal tally at these games, winning a total of 39 medals comprising 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze.

Haryana once again distinguished itself during this event. The Chief Minister highlighted that while Haryana accounts for merely 2 percent of the country’s total population, athletes from the state clinched a total of 11 medals in these games.

Commending the performance of the state’s daughters in particular, CM Saini pointed out that 6 of the 11 medals won by Haryana’s athletes were secured by women, including 5 gold medals. He expressed confidence that, driven by the prowess of its athletes, India would emerge as a global sporting powerhouse at the Olympic Games.
