HQ IDS marks 25 years since its establishment; organizes 'Trishakti Manthan' to discuss operational preparedness, joint exercises, and future domains like Cyber, Space, and AI.
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) celebrated its Silver Jubilee on October 1, 2026. Established in New Delhi on the same date in 2001, HQ IDS observed the occasion as 'Tri-Service Day'. As part of the celebrations themed ‘Future readiness through jointness & Integration’, HQ IDS organized a conference named 'Trishakti Manthan', featuring addresses by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N. S. Raja Subramani and the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) Air Marshal Tejinder Singh. The event emphasized HQ IDS's role in operational preparedness through joint operational doctrines, training frameworks, exercises, and disaster relief coordination.
In recognition of its contributions, HQ IDS released a Silver Jubilee Book documenting its evolution and achievements over the past 25 years. The CDS Unit Citations were also conferred to personnel for their efforts towards strengthening jointness and integration. A Wreath Laying Ceremony at the National War Memorial & Museum was held to honor fallen soldiers.
HQ IDS has been instrumental in preparing the Defence Forces for emerging domains such as Cyber, Space, and Artificial Intelligence. It has also fostered collaboration with research organizations, academia, and industry to accelerate indigenous capability development in line with Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India) in Defence. Institutional mechanisms for jointness have been strengthened through platforms like Ran Samwad, Joint Commanders’ Conference (JCC), and Combined Operational Review and Evaluation (CORE) Programme, which facilitate structured deliberations on contemporary security challenges and enhance joint warfighting capabilities across land, maritime, air, space, cyber, and cognitive domains.
The Trishakti Manthan conference specifically addressed topics such as integrated joint operations, joint exercises, and joint doctrine development. It is a testament to HQ IDS's commitment towards enhancing operational preparedness, fostering jointness, and integrating various defence services.
