On October 30, 2026, the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, released a special souvenir sheet featuring two commemorative postage stamps dedicated to breast cancer awareness at Dak Bhawan, New Delhi. The release was done by Manisha Sinha, Director General Postal Services, and Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the presence of other senior dignitaries and officials from both Ministries.

In her address to the gathering, Ms. Sinha emphasised that commemorative postage stamps serve as an important medium to showcase the country's priorities and spread awareness beyond geographical boundaries. She highlighted the importance of regular screening and early detection in combating breast cancer and encouraged families to support women in seeking timely medical advice. Ms. Sinha also underscored the potential of postcards as a meaningful medium of connection, encouragement, and emotional support for women undergoing treatment.

Ms. Srivastava appreciated the Department of Posts for taking forward the message of women's health through philately. Highlighting the Government's focus on preventive healthcare, she emphasised that regular screening for breast, oral, and cervical cancers is an integral part of the national healthcare programme. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening awareness and encouraging women to undergo regular screening for early detection.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India, with approximately two lakh new cases diagnosed annually. The Government of India has strengthened population-based screening and early detection initiatives under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases. Screening services are provided through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and community health centres, with referral facilities and treatment available through district and tertiary care hospitals.

Separately, the Department of Posts, in collaboration with Fortis Hospital, organised awareness sessions on Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer, along with interactive sessions on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at Dak Bhawan, promoting preventive healthcare awareness and knowledge of essential life-saving techniques.
