Iran has stipulated seven conditions from a June interim agreement as prerequisites for the reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, which remains closed due to ongoing conflicts with the United States.

The Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stated that Tehran's position on reopening the Strait of Hormuz is clear and firm. He asserted that the strategic waterway will not be reopened until seven conditions, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, are met. The conditions, as reported by Iranian state media, include: 1) guaranteeing Iran's security, 2) stopping economic sanctions, 3) halting military threats, 4) respecting Iran's territorial integrity, 5) ensuring free navigation for all countries, 6) avoiding any actions that harm regional peace and stability, and 7) resolving disputes through dialogue. Additionally, Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia revealed Iran's intent to extend the range of its missiles following its recent conflict with the United States. Speaking to a news agency, he said the conflict had highlighted the need for Iran to develop longer-range missiles and that the country had already begun taking steps in that direction. Lastly, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei communicated Tehran's broad positions on the US response through mediators, with some additional points still to be conveyed to Washington. Baghaei said, Iran was currently focused on the Strait of Hormuz and that restoring security in the strategically important waterway would require clear and concrete steps from the United States.
