The commencement of the 271st session of the Rajya Sabha marked the entry of a new technological advancement – live AI-based simultaneous interpretation of proceedings in nine languages through Multi-Media Devices at Members' seats. This facility is set to be expanded to all twenty-two scheduled languages in due course.
During his speech, the speaker emphasized the rich history of meaningful deliberations in the Rajya Sabha and expressed confidence that this session would continue the legacy. With 19 sittings ahead, it is the collective responsibility of the members to utilize this time effectively in debating and deciding on national issues.
The speaker also urged Members to remain focused on the timely disposal of business, as every disruption delays discussion on matters affecting the nation and the people they represent. He appealed to all members across the House to uphold the dignity, discipline and decorum of this august institution.
