Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has taken steps to increase crop production and farmers' income through technology and innovation, particularly promoting natural farming in Singrauli. The CM also plans to expand irrigation capacity in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced his government's commitment to enhancing agricultural development, particularly in Singrauli. He revealed that over 3,000 farmers in the district have already adopted natural farming, and efforts are underway to make Singrauli a leading agricultural district. Known for its energy resources, Singrauli is now being developed as a hub for natural farming. The CM addressed the Balram Krishi Mahotsav virtually from his residence on Friday and extended greetings to farmers on Anant Chaturdashi.
In terms of irrigation, Dr. Yadav pledged to expand capacity to 10 million hectares. He also highlighted the promotion of food processing and value addition, as well as the implementation of the One District-One Product initiative to boost local production. Animal husbandry and dairy are expected to be integrated into rural economies.
Dr. Yadav mentioned that Singrauli, situated at the confluence of the Son and Gopad rivers, is a significant producer of Shree Anna, Kodo, and Sama. The government has decided to procure Kodo-Kutki at the Minimum Support Price based on farmers' initiatives from Singrauli and Dindori. The CM interacted with progressive farmers of Singrauli via video conference to discuss natural farming practices, Shree Anna production, and turmeric cultivation.
In addition, Dr. Yadav expressed support for farmers adopting new technologies, crops, horticulture, and animal husbandry. He also highlighted several new units established in the district, including flour mills, rice mills, oil mills, dairy product units, bakeries, and food-processing facilities. Feeder separation has been completed to ensure 10 hours of daytime power supply to farmers, further improving agricultural activities.
