In the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, Rupakheda village has undergone a significant transformation. Once dependent on traditional crops like wheat, gram, maize, and soybean, the village now boasts rose, gerbera, lily, and other flower cultivation, along with high-quality vegetable production in polyhouses and shade net houses. With 44 polyhouses and 13 shade net houses, Rupakheda has emerged as a hub for controlled-environment farming. This shift has resulted in increased production and income for local farmers.
The Government of India's Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture provided financial support to farmers for building polyhouses and shade net houses, fostering the adoption of modern farming techniques. These methods have proven effective in water conservation and improving crop quality and yield.
