Smt Ranjana Chopra, Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), visited Indore division in Madhya Pradesh to assess the on-ground implementation of MoTA's flagship schemes. The visit included interactions with tribal beneficiaries and reviews at various institutions.
On August 20, 2026, Smt Ranjana Chopra, Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), accompanied by other senior officials, undertook a field visit to Indore division in Madhya Pradesh. The aim was to assess the on-ground implementation of MoTA's flagship schemes and interact directly with tribal beneficiaries.
The day began at the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Morod (PVTG), where Secretary Chopra interacted with students and teachers, witnessed digital smart classrooms, and heard about aspirations to become engineers and professionals.
The team then visited the Bunkar Suvidha Kendra at Maheshwar, a centre for ST women weavers producing Maheshwari Sarees. The Secretary met with SHG members, students, and Forest Rights Act (FRA) patta holders.
At the Adi Sewa Kendra, Keriyakheri, Secretary Chopra observed community members registering facilitation requirements. The Kendra had recently hosted a nationwide Jan Sunwai for grievance redressal.
The team subsequently visited a Tribal Homestay in Khargone district as an example of community-led rural tourism. The Secretary interacted with the homestay owner to understand how tribal households are building sustainable livelihoods through tourism.
Finally, the Secretary visited the Center of Competence for Sickle Cell Disease at Indore and reviewed the screening, counselling, and treatment support facilities available at the Centre. The field visit concluded with a progress review meeting chaired by the Secretary to assess the implementation status of MoTA schemes across Madhya Pradesh.
