According to preliminary information, more than 1,380 individuals are still missing following the disaster. Twenty-one Indians, all from Tamil Nadu, have been rescued so far, New Delhi said. However, it is reported that there may be some Indians missing on the Chinese side of the Nepal border as well, according to Jaiswal.
In another development, auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers in Maharashtra will be given one year to learn Marathi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. No action will be taken against the drivers during this period for not knowing the language.
This came amid a statewide inspection campaign to enforce the Maharashtra government’s rule making Marathi mandatory for auto-rickshaw and cab drivers in the state.
