Approval marks a significant step towards achieving self-reliance in defense, enabling Indian industries to undertake domestic production of DRDO-developed missile technologies.

In a pivotal move towards realizing the vision of Aatmanirbharata in defense, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has endorsed the transfer of Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) developed technologies for all conventional missile systems to the Indian defense industry. This Transfer of Technology is a notable achievement in encouraging greater involvement of domestic industries within the defense sector by facilitating indigenous production, subject to applicable qualifications, certifications, and regulatory prerequisites.

The decision will pave the way for a seamless transition from missile system development to industrial production, demonstrating DRDO's ongoing dedication to capitalizing on the capabilities of the Indian industry for the creation and manufacturing of advanced defense systems. The objective is to augment domestic manufacturing capabilities, fortify the defense industrial base, and establish opportunities for participation by Indian MSMEs and other technology partners in the supply chain.

The initiative aims to boost operational capability, decrease import dependence, and escalate domestic value addition, all while fostering the expansion of India's defense manufacturing sector. It is worth noting that DRDO remains steadfast in collaborating with Indian industry to expedite the transfer and absorption of advanced defense technologies and bolster the country's indigenous defense competencies.

The approval includes technologies related to surface-to-air missile systems, anti-tank guided missiles, and cruise missiles.
