The Northern Railway introduced a special train to help over 600 stranded passengers affected by the prolonged closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway due to adverse weather conditions.
Following a request from Commercial Control, Jammu, the Northern Railway took an initiative to introduce a special train between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra on Saturday. This step was taken in response to the heavy passenger rush caused by restrictions and slow movement of traffic on the national highway due to continuous closure caused by heavy rainfall, landslides, and shooting stones.
The special service successfully evacuated more than 600 passengers affected by the disruption in road connectivity. This additional service proved crucial for passengers who were unable to travel by road due to the prevailing weather conditions and the ongoing closure of the highway.
