The Technology Development Board (TDB) has provided financial assistance to M/s Sonic Biochem Extractions Pvt. Ltd. for a project aimed at commercializing Functional and Textured Soya Protein Concentrates using locally developed technology. The initiative will establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, reduce import dependence, and generate new export opportunities.
The Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology, has extended financial assistance to M/s Sonic Biochem Extractions Pvt. Ltd., Indore (Madhya Pradesh) for a project titled ‘Development & Commercialization of Functional and Textured Soya Protein Concentrate(s).’
This initiative addresses the growing global demand for high-quality, non-GMO plant-based protein ingredients. The project aims to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for the commercial production of Functional Soya Protein Concentrate (FSPC) and Textured Soya Protein Concentrate (TSPC) using indigenous technology developed by Sonic Biochem.
The company has developed an indigenous process for producing both FSPC and TSPC, which utilizes Soya Protein Concentrate (SPC) as the primary raw material. Unlike conventional manufacturing processes that rely on comparatively expensive Soya Protein Isolate (SPI), primarily imported from China and the United States, Sonic Biochem's technology uses SPC indigenously developed and manufactured in-house.
The project will establish commercial-scale manufacturing capacity for these advanced protein ingredients, which find extensive applications across various sectors. The technology is expected to reduce import dependence, generate new export opportunities, and strengthen India's position in the rapidly expanding global market for value-added plant proteins.
