Dr. Jitendra Singh initiates BIO-NIVESH, a platform designed to foster engagement between biotechnology innovators and investors in India.
On September 3, 2026, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh held a joint roundtable with StartUps and Investors for the launch of BIO-NIVESH. The objective of this strategic platform is to strengthen engagement between biotechnology innovators and the investment community, aiming to catalyze private capital into promising biotechnology innovations for scale-up and commercialization.
During the interactive roundtable, Dr. Singh emphasized the necessity of innovation and investment synergy, stating that neither can thrive without the other. He believes BIO-NIVESH will bridge the gap between research, entrepreneurship, industry, and markets.
Dr. Singh proposed a ‘Big Five in Five Years’ approach for the biotechnology ecosystem to build large anchor companies that can support growth of other startups. He also highlighted the potential of cross-sector application of innovative ideas.
The Minister stressed on creating an environment where science meets capital, innovation meets industry, and research meets market, with the government playing a role in reducing early-stage risk and demonstrating technological potential for private capital. He expressed optimism that BIO-NIVESH will become a significant strategic mechanism for India's biotechnology growth.
BIO-NIVESH is designed as a two-way engagement mechanism, going beyond conventional startup pitching or investor-connect formats. It aims to enable innovators to understand the investment lens while giving investors deeper insight into the scientific, regulatory, and development pathways of biotechnology.
