This article delves into the specifics of Uttar Pradesh government's new scheme, the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana, aimed at boosting female participation in higher education.
The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has formulated guidelines for the implementation of the Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Yojana. This initiative, designed to enhance female participation in higher education and reduce dropout rates, will provide free scooters to meritorious female students in the state.
According to Higher Education Minister of State Yogendra Upadhyay, eligible students will be selected from the top 5 percent of female graduates. The scheme includes not only the provision and insurance of scooters but also helmets, essential accessories, and an initial supply of 4 litres of petrol.
The income limit condition will be relaxed for disabled girl students, daughters of martyrs, and daughters from destitute families. This relaxation aims to encourage more participation among these groups in higher education, particularly those residing in rural and remote areas.
