West Bengal's Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reveals the Investment Promotion Policy aimed at boosting investment, industrial growth, and employment opportunities.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has unveiled the state government's Investment Promotion Policy, 2026. This policy is designed to attract investments, accelerate industrial growth, and generate employment opportunities. Key objectives include simplifying procedures, offering faster clearances, and implementing a streamlined approval mechanism for ease of doing business. The policy also proposes incentives for employment generation, with a focus on women and transgender individuals' recruitment. Strengthening the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector is another significant goal. To facilitate applications, approvals, financial assistance, and grievance redressal, a single-window online clearance system will be established within stipulated timelines. The government plans to address industrial land requirements through direct land purchases, land pooling, and the utilisation of unused industrial land. Incentives are proposed for industries in economically less-developed regions of the state. The policy identifies priority sectors such as semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, electric vehicles, green hydrogen, defence production, textiles, food processing, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. It also encourages research and development, technological innovation, and collaboration between industries and academic institutions, with eligible industrial units receiving financial assistance for research and development activities.
