The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reviewed enforcement measures against air pollution, conducting inspections and taking action against violations.
During a meeting, the CAQM's Enforcement Task Force reported carrying out 175 inspections from the 1st to the 13th of this month. These inspections targeted construction and demolition sites, industrial units, and diesel generator set-related activities across the National Capital Region. The Commission initiated action against violations, including proposals for the closure of one project or industry, sealing of 19 diesel generator sets, issuance of nine compliance directions, and environmental compensation in four cases.
Furthermore, the Commission issued 25 resumption orders after verifying compliance. This includes two in Delhi, 11 in Haryana, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, and two in Rajasthan. The Commission has inspected over 27 thousand 900 units, projects, and entities across the NCR, issuing more than 18 hundred closure directions and granting 1,446 resumption orders based on these inspections.
The CAQM also reviewed road redevelopment works undertaken by Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam. Of the 42 inspected road stretches, all were found to be fully compliant with its Standard Framework for road dust mitigation. The Commission directed all road-owning agencies across Delhi-NCR to adopt this framework for ongoing and future road redevelopment projects to help reduce dust pollution.
