The Press Information Bureau has released a detailed report showcasing the results of the TRAI-conducted drive test in various locations across Madhya Pradesh, providing valuable insights into the quality of mobile network services.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently published the findings from an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted in June 2026. The tests were carried out across Bhopal City, Indore to Neemuch Highway, and Bilaspur to Ambikapur Highway under Madhya Pradesh's LSA.
The drive test covered a vast area, including city drives totaling 301.2 KMs, nine hotspot locations, 7.9 KMs in walk tests, and 506.3 KMs in highway testing. The purpose of this exercise was to assess and verify the real-time quality of mobile network services (both voice & data) provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
The performance of TSPs for key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, captured during IDT, includes signal strength, call setup success rate (CSSR), drop call rate (DCR), call setup time, call silence rate, speech quality (MOS), download/upload throughput, latency, jitter, and packet drop rate.
The report also provides details of coverage gaps, dropped calls, call silence instances, and data download and upload speeds. For example, the signal strength observed during voice testing was poor for 48.2% of samples in Indore to Neemuch Highway and 39.6% in Bilaspur to Ambikapur Highway.
The areas covered in the city drive include Bairagarh, Lalghati, Gandhinagar, Karond, Bhanpur, JP Nagar, Kali Basti, Khusipura, Ashoka Garden, Govindpura, Minal Residency, Indrapuri, Ayodhya Nagar, Piplani, Awadh Puri, Saket Nagar, Pipaliya Kujadgarh, Indra Nagar, Jhalar Kalan, Misrod, Arera Colony, Maharana Pratap Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Char Imli, Lalita Nagar, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar and Ratibad etc. in Bhopal City.
