Two-day summit chaired by Annpurna Devi, Minister for Women and Child Development; discussions focus on women's empowerment, child development, nutrition, safety, and welfare. Ministers share experiences between states and Union Territories on key topics.

On October 8, 2026, Smt. Annpurna Devi, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, chaired the two-day Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development in New Delhi. The summit aimed to strengthen Centre-State coordination and effective implementation of initiatives aimed at empowering women and ensuring the holistic development of children. Smt. Savitri Thakur, Minister of State, also participated in the meeting. In a tweet, Smt. Annpurna Devi expressed her belief that under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this summit would further strengthen Centre-State coordination and the effective implementation of initiatives aimed at empowering women and ensuring the holistic development of children.

Minister Thakur also highlighted the efforts of the Central Government in creating a safe, healthy, and dignified future for women and children. She wrote that experiences were shared between states and Union Territories on three significant topics – strengthening Anganwadi centres further for better nutrition and early education, fortifying security arrangements for children living in vulnerable conditions, and the effective implementation of institutional and legal provisions related to women's safety.

Smt. Annpurna Devi emphasized that better coordination between the Centre and the states in the interest of women and children, exchange of experiences, and effective implementation of schemes at the grassroots level would further strengthen efforts.
