
President Droupadi Murmu paid homage to Moldova's national hero and highlighted opportunities for increased economic engagement between India and Moldova across various high-growth sectors.
During her visit to Moldova, President Droupadi Murmu laid a wreath at the Monument of Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt as a mark of respect to Moldova’s national hero. The ceremony was attended by senior dignitaries from both countries, symbolizing the shared values of courage, sovereignty, and friendship between India and Moldova.
In her address at the India-Moldova Business Forum in Chișinău, President Murmu emphasized that there is immense potential for collaboration in several high-growth sectors. She stated that her visit, the first-ever State Visit by an Indian President to Moldova, reflects India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people spheres.
President Murmu highlighted opportunities in specific sectors such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber security, fintech, digital public infrastructure, renewable energy, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, food processing, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare. She also welcomed the growing partnership in the energy sector, noting that Indian companies are implementing a high-voltage transmission line connecting Chișinău with Romania, which will enhance Moldova’s energy resilience and regional connectivity.
President Murmu invited Moldovan companies to explore trade and investment opportunities in India and encouraged Indian businesses to invest in Moldova. She expressed confidence that the Business Forum would pave the way for new partnerships and innovative collaborations, setting a foundation for a new chapter in the economic relationship between the two countries.
