Members of Parliament protesting in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha

Opposition parties protested in both Houses of Parliament, leading to adjournments due to the NEET paper leak case and student protests. The Lok Sabha faced multiple adjournments and eventually suspended a Trinamool Congress MP for the rest of the Monsoon Session.

On Friday, the Lok Sabha faced repeated disruptions as opposition parties protested over several issues. Initially, when the Lok Sabha met at 11 AM, Speaker Om Birla tried to take up the Question Hour, but the opposition members raised the issue of paper leak and student protests. The House was adjourned until 12 noon. When the Lok Sabha reassembled after the first adjournment, the opposition continued to protest over the NEET issue. KC Venugopal of Congress and Akhilesh Yadav of Samajwadi Party raised concerns about student protests. Speaker Om Birla urged cooperation for smooth functioning, but the House was adjourned again till 2 PM. During the second session, the Lok Sabha passed a resolution to suspend Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for the rest of the Monsoon Session due to objectionable and unparliamentary remarks targeting women MPs. As the ruckus continued, the House was adjourned till tomorrow. The Rajya Sabha also witnessed similar scenes, with Deputy Chairman Harivansh urging cooperation and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accusing the Congress party of creating obstacles in conducting discussions by imposing new conditions and raising fresh issues.
